In Loving Memory of Dr. David U. Arango

January 13, 1960 – July 22, 2025, Beloved Surgeon, Devoted Friend, and Accomplished Businessman

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. David U. Arango, a devoted orthopedic surgeon, visionary businessman, and respected leader in the medical field. Dr. Arango passed away on July 22, 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy defined by tireless dedication, clinical excellence, and compassion for those he served.

Dr. Arango lived and breathed his work. His life's purpose was reflected in his commitment to the art and science of orthopedic surgery. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Canada, a Certified Independent Medical Examiner, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

His pursuit of advanced training led him to complete several specialized fellowships, including a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of South Florida, where he served as an affiliated team doctor for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Storm. His expertise in sports medicine extended to working as a team physician for Formula 1 Racing and as a ringside physician for professional boxing. He also completed both a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship and a Joint Replacement Fellowship, broadening the scope and depth of care he provided to his patients.

Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Arango earned the trust of his community and the admiration of his colleagues. He built a successful medical practice grounded in excellence, precision, and teamwork. He invested not only in his patients, but in his employees-valuing their contributions as essential to the success of his work and the well-being of those they served.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Arango was an avid traveler who found joy in exploring the world and creating lasting memories with those closest to him. He is survived by his devoted sister Vivian Marquez, who played a pivotal role in transforming the operations of his business; his brother-in-law Miguel Marquez; and his beloved nieces Sonia Marquez and Carmela Marquez, who accompanied him on many of his most cherished travels.

Dr. David U. Arango leaves behind a life rich in achievement, purpose, and integrity. He touched countless lives through his healing hands, generous heart, and unwavering work ethic. His legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

I had the privilege of working as Dr. Arango´s biller back in 2010, and I truly miss the conversations we shared. He was not only a brilliant orthopedic surgeon but also a sharp and inspiring businessman. He touched many lives with his skill, compassion, and generosity, and I feel honored to have been a small part of his journey.

My deepest condolences to his family.

I loved dr. Arango. He did several surgeries for me and my epidural injections.
I started being his patient 2014.
He was a protectionist to say the least.
I would always take him his favorite pie banana creme.
There will never be another doctor like him and a true friend. You will be missed.

In loving memory of a great doctor, friend (more like family), and boss (or as we called it "captain"). I will always cherish the memories we made and all the things you taught me in the ortho world! It was truly an honor to work with and for him! We will love you and miss you always. Shira & Bruce Stephens!
