David Riley "Hammer Head" Armstrong

David Riley "Hammer Head" Armstrong, 82, of Dyersburg, died Monday, May 12, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born June 19, 1942, he is the son of the late Chester Clayborn and Connie Lorine Jones Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong retired after 39 years of active service with the Army. He was a former Golden Glove Boxer, Car racer and a well-known woodcraftsman.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Elizabeth Thomen. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Linda Armstrong; his daughter, Sonya Kay Arwood of Dyersburg; his sister, Polly McCandless (Richard) of Deland, FL; his brother, Cecil Armstrong (Carol) of Dyersburg; three beautiful granddaughters, Lucy Webb (Logan), Tabitha Palmer (Stephen), Kayla Davis (Chase) and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Teresa Maitland and Lavenia McPherson.
