David Artz
November 1, 1945 - December 17, 2025
David Robert Artz, age 80, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by loved ones and the promise of eternal life. He was born on November 1, 1945, in Emporia, Kan., and grew up in Springfield, Ill. where he met his wife, Janet Elaine Artz.
David started working for GTE Yellow Pages, which moved their family to Lincoln, Neb. in 1974. After several years, he was recruited to work for yellow page rival Frontier Directory Company. In 1989, he became a founding partner of FDC Publishing of the Midwest. He was truly a man of many talents. A lifelong learner, he possessed a natural curiosity and a willingness to try new things. Whatever he set his hand to, he did well. David was a master storyteller. With warmth and humor, he could turn an ordinary moment into a memorable one. He took genuine interest in the people around him and had a way of making everyone feel valued and heard.
He found joy in the simple moments of life. David loved to play golf, fish, hunt, play guitar, sing karaoke, and listen to a wide variety of music. He especially cherished time spent with his family and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing cards with his beloved wife and dear friends, sharing laughter, friendly competition, and the occasional cocktail.
Above all else, David loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He trusted deeply in God's promises and now rests in the assurance of eternal life, rejoicing in the presence of his Savior.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Artz. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Artz; his sons, Matthew Artz (Lori) and Timothy Artz (Marsha); his grandchildren, Creighton Artz (Samantha), Courtney Panowicz (Evan), Brooke Coufal (Austin), Emily Artz, and Samuel David Artz; his great-grandson, Theodore Artz; his sisters, Marcy Schott (Wade), Dynda Thomas (David); beloved nieces; nephews; cousins and many cherished friends. Each of them carries forward his legacy.
While he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
The Celebration of Life service will be December 27th, 11 a.m., at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home. There will be a visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Memorial donations, in memory of David, can be given to Messiah Lutheran Church, Young Life, Center Church or The April Sampson Cancer Center.
