David A.G. Bailey, 75, of Provo, Utah, passed away on April 1, 2023, from complications of a Glioblastoma grade 4 brain tumor.
David was a gentle man with a sense of humor and a passion for life. He lived life to the fullest and cherished his family, friends, and community. He loved his 30-year career as a Firefighter/paramedic, where he served as a Captain and enjoyed working with his team and making lifelong friends throughout Provo City.
David was also a dedicated temple worker for 25 years, and he referred to every Tuesday as "Temple Tuesday." He loved the temple ordinances and the friendships he formed with those he worked alongside. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Scout leader, Ward Clerk, Bishop Counselor, and Transit Bishop Missionary at the Provo TSO for 5 years.
David had a deep love for adventure and travel. He and his family often went on trips, including to the Farmhouse in Tetonia, Idaho, where they referred to it as "God's Country." He enjoyed skiing at Sundance, fishing at Gooseberry and Deer Creek, Moab, camping, Disneyland, cruises, and most of all, his beloved Dodgers. From February to November, he carried the TV remote in his pocket, so Mary couldn't change the channels.
David also loved his neighbors and being a member of the Edgemont 9th Ward. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and could often be found using his leaf blower to clean up leaves in the gutters around the neighborhood. He was a kind and selfless man who went out of his way to ease the burden of others.
After retiring from the Fire Department, David bought an embroidery machine and designed Levi quilts to be raffled at the annual Fullmer Family Reunion and Baptism towels for many Primary Children. He had a talent for creating beautiful things and loved sharing his creations with others.
David graduated from John H Polytechnic High in 1965 and BYU in Accounting in 1975. He also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay from 1967-1969.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Bailey, his ex-wife, Marilyn McQuarrie, his daughter Jenny Lee Bailey, his father-in-law, Larry Fullmer, his brother-in-law, Dale Fullmer, and his sister-in-law, Kendi Fullmer.
David is survived by his wife, Mary, his children, Benjamin (Mindy) Bailey, Lauralee Kelly, Jeremy (Katie) Bailey, Megan (Ryan) Goodwin, and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Candace (Phil) Munoa, his brothers, Robert (Sandy Bailey) and Matthew (Charlotte) Bailey.
David's family would like to thank Dr. Erik Gulbrandsen DO, Dr. Nathan Rich Oncologist, Dr. Brandon Barney Radiation Oncologist, Howard Reichman Surgeon, and their exceptional staff for their care and support. They would also like to thank Aspen Ridge Rehab, Symbii Hospice, Marlene Oaks, and Becky Nelson for their exceptional care during David's illness.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. A celebration of his life will be held on April 8, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N University Ave., Provo, UT 84604.

David had such a joyful personality and a big smile for everyone in the Ward. We moved out of his Ward and were saddened and shocked to hear of his passing.

David Andrew, Gerwin, Bailey~ I will always treasure the memories I have of growing up in North Hollywood, California where our parents were best friends and the many events we celebrated together. Some of the memories are of pool parties at your parent´s "purple" house were we all took turns cranking the handle to make homemade ice cream on various holidays. The many summer days spent at several beach houses like "Silver Strand" beach where we had many fun times with family & friends. The early mornings you would pick me up for Seminary in your VW and go to the donut shop and buy the "Day old" donuts for a cheaper price and then drive over to "Bibles" and "Spin Donuts" before going to the house on the property that became the location of the current North Hollywood III ward where we met for our seminary lessons before school (Polytechnic High School). And of course I will always have the memories of the various car accidents we were in, especially the one on Memorial Day 1964 and the motorcycle accident off of Malibu Canyon Rd. But most of all I will always treasure the fun times we had with our families and friends like Grad Nite at Disneyland and taking me to my first Stake Dance. Ron also has memories of hanging out with you and the guys and riding with you on your motorcycle down some scary windy roads. He also remembers letting you drive his cool red ´57 Chevy to take a girl out on a date and you let him drive your motorcycle in exchange. It has been a pleasure to stay in touch over the years as we got married, had children and developed our careers. Ron and I really appreciate that you offered to be the contact person for our youngest daughter as she started to attend BYU without and family nearby, and driving her to the airport when my mother died in Oct. 1990. Dave you´ve always been a good friend to both Ron and me (even though you became a Firefighter and Ron a LAPD officer) the bond we had will never be broken. Rest in peace now my friend and say hi to your parents for me.
With Love,
Marilyn Klock-Carpenter & Ron
