Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - Middletown on Sep. 19, 2025.
David S. Bailey of
Middletown, DE, age 64, entered the Lord's presence on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Because of his faith in the Lord Jesus, he is now healed of the illnesses that plagued him for many years.
He was born on April 17, 1961, in Red Bank, NJ and grew up in Union Beach, NJ.
He graduated from Keyport High School in NJ in 1979 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1980. He attended Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ and later graduated with a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, pool, and card games. Throughout his life, he was an avid NY Yankees fan and NY Giants fan. His other pastimes included Wii bowling and watching old television shows and movies.
As an adult, he was a skilled Bible study leader and pastor. He loved making people laugh; therefore, he frequently included humor in his messages. He had a strong singing voice and enjoyed participating in church choir presentations.
He was predeceased by his mother, Agnes (Bailey) Babbel, his aunt, Irene Bailey, his uncle, Stephen Bailey, and his brother-in-law Donald Hesse Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Suzanne (Born) Bailey and siblings Albert Babbel of East Brunswick, NJ, Michael Babbel (Heather) of Branchburg, NJ, Agnes Hesse of South Glenns Falls, NY, and Harriet Tate (John) of Jackson, NJ along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He cherished his family and friends deeply. Also, the Herzberg family of Hazlet, NJ held a special place in his heart.
One of his favorite Scripture passages was "Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." Ephesians 6:10-13
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street,
