David Paul Belfiori, age 85, of Merrill, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29 , 2025. David was born on April 29, 1940, in Virginia MN, the son of Dominick & Sylvia Belfiori. He attended Buhl High School in Buhl, MN and graduated from UM-Duluth with a BS degree in Mathematics. He married his high school sweetheart Carol Mae Rossman, on August 18, 1962. They were blessed with 63 years of loving marriage and 6 children.

David began his teaching career in Askov, MN. He then moved to Merrill and was employed at Merrill Area Public Schools for more than 30 years. He taught math at both Merrill Junior High and Senior High Schools. Upon retirement he enjoyed golfing, an occasional trip to the casino, sporting events and watching his grandchildren grow.

David is survived by his loving wife of 63 years; Carol, and their 6 children, Daren (Amy) Belfiori, Dale (Tammi) Belfiori, Ross (Kate) Belfiori, Pat (Juli) Belfiori, Paula Belfiori and Dom (Julie) Belfiori. Nine grandchildren Dominic (Rebecca) Belfiori, Alex Brandenburg (Kim), Tyler (Izzy) Belfiori, McKenzie Belfiori (fiancé Gerry), Kalan Belfiori, Josh Belfiori (fiancé Casey), Kelsie Belfiori (fiancé Owen), Dani Belfiori, Makenna Belfiori and Zac Nowatzki. One brother Dan (Judith) Belfiori and brother-in-law Mark (Marilyn) Rossman.

Papa and Nona are both excited and looking forward to their first great-grandchild due in February.

He was preceded in death by: his parents Dominick and Sylvia and in-laws Matt and Bernice Rossman.

A private family celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank all of the professional health care teams of St. Croix Hospice Care and Woodland Court of Merrill for their kind and compassionate care.
