David Lincoln Benbow, age 78, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Montgomery Baptist Hospital.
David was a devoted husband to Virginia C. Benbow for 34 years. Together, they shared a loving family, including three cherished grandchildren: Page, McKenna, and John Thomas Stegall. He was also a beloved uncle to Kristy Mitchell, great-uncle to Shawn and Eric Black, and Elizabeth Long (and her husband, Jacob), and proud great-great-uncle to seven great-great nephews, including a special bond with Wesley Long, with whom he spent much of his time after retirement.
David served his country by joining the National Guard in 1964. He worked as a dedicated truck driver for over 25 years, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. In his free time, David found joy in the outdoors-hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fannie Louise and L.B. Benbow; his brothers, Michael, Lonnie Frank, and Ronald Benbow; and his niece, Tammy Wiggins. David was one of five siblings and is survived by his beloved sister, Dorothy Walker, the last living sibling of their close-knit family.
Graveside services for Mr. Benbow will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Stone Lake Cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the service at the cemetery.
David will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and the many lives he touched along the way. His legacy of love and loyalty will live on in those who knew him best.
