David William Beningo, 74, passed away on February 28, 2025 in CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital.
Born in Detroit, Michigan to William Gerald and Audrey Marie Hendry Beningo, Mr. Beningo was a 1968 graduate of Cody High School. He served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1970-1971. Mr. Beningo moved to Lake Charles in 1994 where he continued his ultimately 45-year career in radio, working in Lake Charles at LA 99 and later 92.9 as radio host and production manager. He retired in 2019. Mr. Beningo was a member of South City Christian Church. He enjoyed listening to music, walking, and watching movies with his feline companions.
Mr. Beningo was preceded in death by his father, William Gerald, and by his faithful wife of thirty-eight years, Ginger McClain Beningo. He is survived by his mother, Audrey Marie; three brothers, Anthony Beningo & wife Debbie of New Boston, Michigan, William Beningo & wife Debbie of Milford, Michigan, and Peter Beningo of Canton, Michigan; one sister, Anna Beningo of Panama City Beach, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Johnson Funeral Home. The Reverand Dave Lang will officiate. Interment will follow at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
