David John Benson of Philadelphia, PA. Passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Manor, Meadowbrook, PA. He was 77 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA to Walter and Margaret Benson. Beloved husband of the late Rosemarie ( McKeever) Benson. Loving father of Andrew Benson and Kristine Benson (Mark Burkert). Step father to Cindy Geffory (Daniel), Charles VanWinkle and Sandy VanWinkle. Grandfather to Riley Burkert and Step grandfather to Hunter Geffory and Lexi VanWinkle. Dear brother of Joan Benson and the late Walter Benson. David was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 2001 from Consolidated Press where he was employed as a printer. He was a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster of troop 385 for 12 years, which held there meetings at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and a member of Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Association. Family and friends are invited to David's Life Celebration Thursday, April 19, 2018 beginning 9:30 A.M. from John F. Givnish of Academy Road, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154 and to participate in his Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow with Military Honors in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. In lieu of flowers, a donation in David's memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 241 Cadwalader Avenue, Elkins Park, PA 19027 would be appreciated by the family.
