I lost touch with David some time after his move to California. I met David at Temple U. We did shows together, lived in the same dorm, had mutual friends and graduated from Temple together. He was fun to be around, had a great sense of humor and was a good friend. He was a kind, thoughtful and a brave person. I remember that what he wanted most in life was to find a partner to share his life. When he first moved to CA, he told me that he had found someone. I was so happy for him. He deserved all that happiness. I am sorry that I lost touch with him. I have thought of him often over the years, but could not find him. I am not surprised to find out that he continued to champion causes for AIDS and other organizations related to the Arts. I hope his family sees my post. I miss him and and glad that he and I became friends.

I recall David as my neighbor growing up...he was funny and creative. I can hear his great voice. David and I reconnected in ny and shared a lovely meal sitting at a Cafe on the river in ny. We caught up about growing up together and then both living in ny. The earth lost a an artist and the clouds have added a creative soul. Love, francy altus

David was a great friend, a great artist, and a great human being. He cared for and about his friends, took care of his colleagues, and shared his love with the world. There is a big hole in our Theatre family without him.

It is sad when a member of our family dies at such a young age. My heart goes out to the Besser family.

We send our love to you all. We enjoyed our times spent with David in Los Angeles and in New York City when we would visit him behind the scenes at the theatre where he shined.
