David Eugene Billman was born October 9, 1949 in Ames, Iowa. He was the second oldest (alongside his twin sister Diane) of nine children. David grew up in State Center, Iowa and attended school at West Marshall High School. He furthered his education attending Buena Vista University where he received his Bachelor's degree. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1969 and was honorably discharged in January 1972 after four years of service.
On July 5, 1969, David was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Temple. Together they had two children, Mandy and Brian. He worked for Emerson Process Management (Fisher Controls) for 30 years as he worked his way up to the position of Purchasing Manager. He later retired in 2004 from Emerson Process Management. David and Linda moved to Normal, Illinois in 2017 in order to be closer to family. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Legion in Marshalltown. In his free time, David enjoyed going out and playing golf and watching college football while cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was also an active member and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church where he was involved with missions work and small groups. He and Linda enjoyed working together with their many side businesses they took on, traveling to warmer destinations, and made it a goal to walk a couple miles together every day.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Billman; his children, Mandy (Ellis) Hurd of McLean, Il and Brian (Kay) Billman of Centreville, VA; his grandchildren, Lucas Hurd, Emalee Hurd, Ethan Billman and Gavin Billman; his siblings, Diane Radloff, Ronnie (Sue) Billman, Barb Patterson, Mark (Lisa) Billman, Denise (John) Levings, Renee (Carl) Norman and Christine Blue; alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
