David Bingham Obituary

David P. Bingham, age 91 and a lifelong resident of Nashua, NH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2026, at the Hunt Community.

David was born on December 29, 1934, in Nashua, NH, to Paul and Mary (Peabody) Bingham. A graduate of Sacred Heart Junior High School, David continued his education at Nashua Senior High School, graduating in 1952.

From an early age, David displayed a passion for music. While in high school, he began playing alto saxophone with the High School Glee Club. In addition, he performed in school plays as well as with the Normand Jambard Orchestra. In 1951, his musical talent earned him the privilege to perform with the NH's most accomplished young musicians at the New Hampshire All-State Music Festival. By 1956, David led his own band, the David Bingham Orchestra, performing at numerous community events. David's love of music continued through his ensuing years of Public service as he taught music lessons at Nuttings Music Store for a number of years, and later played with the Hudson Legion Band before putting his Sax away for good about 5 years ago.

That same dedication marked his professional life. In 1951, David began a long, distinguished career at the Nashua Trust Company. Over the years, he advanced through positions of increased responsibility, beginning as a coin roller, bank teller, Assistant Treasurer and later as Vice President, a role he held for fifteen years. His commitment to professional excellence led him to attend the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1971, and partnering with Rivier College to help outline credits and loans for an economics class.

David was equally committed to civic service. He devoted much time to the American Red Cross not only on the Public Relations Committee, but as a treasurer for several years. He was also involved with Junior Achievement of Greater Nashua, serving 5 years as treasurer before being elected as President of the Board in 1972. The following year, he received Junior Achievement's highest honor in recognition of his years of dedicated service.

A natural leader, David was elected Secretary of the Nashua Industrial Management Club, served as an officer of the Young Businessman's Club and was a commissioner for the Nashua Parks and Recreation Department from 1973 to early 1976. He also gave generously of his time to youth athletics for which he received Nashua's prestigious Youth Service Award at Holman Stadium on July 4, 1977. David coached for several decades representing both city baseball and basketball leagues, such as the Northwest Little League Giants whom he guided to a team championship in 1974; The North League Angels; and The Junior Biddy Basketball Eagles through 2 generations of youngsters.

In 1955, David married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Thibault. Together they shared 69 years of marriage until Vivian's passing in 2024.

In his quieter moments, David enjoyed watching all four Boston professional sports teams, playing horseshoes, cornhole, as well as doing both jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Yet nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family, sharing stories, laughter, and moments of simple fun.

Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Bingham of Milton Delaware. He is survived by his six children and their spouses: David Bingham Jr and his wife, Karen of Plainfield, VT; Shevawn Bingham and her wife Nancy Mitchell of Nashua; Dana Bingham and his wife Renee of Merrimack; Elizabeth Tellier and her husband Robert of Londonderry; Glynn Bingham and his wife Lisa of Hollis; and Mary Bingham of Nashua. David also leaves behind ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness, dedication, service and love.

SERVICES: Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua, NH.
