David Jackson Bowden, lovingly known to his grandchildren as "D-Daddy," age 69, of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away in the comfort of his home on January 27th, 2025. He was born in Chapel Hill, NC, to Harold Carlton Bowden II and Norma Faye McMullan. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Bowden. He is survived by his mother, Norma McMullan and his step-father, Phil, and step-mother Martha Bowden. He is survived by his siblings Carl Bowden, Keith Bowden and his husband, Bob, Mary Hester, Ann Sanders and her husband Rhett, and half-sister, Olivia Swallows. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Bowden. Their children, Brandon Bowden, Wesley Bowden and his wife Amy, and Maria Sofer and her husband Michael. David is also survived by his grandchildren, Ally, Ethan, Anna, Leah, Logan, and Luke.

For three years, David faithfully served his country as an army medic and game warden at Fort Campbell. The army would recognize his courage that he would carry his whole life. During his service he was awarded the Kentucky Colonel Honor. In 1973, he married his wife Sharon, whom he had met in grade school. His children remark him with great pride - he was a man with an eccentric personality, had no fear, and surely had to carry nine lives after his several dangerous ventures.

Throughout his life, David picked up a variety of hobbies, all of which ensured he stayed busy. He was known as a man who could do anything he set his mind to. In his younger years, on his Harley-Davidson, he travelled across the country and back. His love for sawmilling and woodworking would span him across a house, several pieces of furniture, and a handful of wooden figures. David often spent his time out hunting when he wasn't in the shop. Another thing to keep him busy was karate, which he had a 4th degree black belt in. Later on, his love of history became a way for him to connect to his local community. He spent much of his time advocating for the preservation and restoration of Shackle Island. Known for loving his town, and his sharp memory, he worked at UPS for 40 years. His talents were once more recognized, for when he retired, he was awarded a Circle of Honor.

Those who knew David, knew he feared nothing, even death. As his age progressed, he still found ways to keep busy, as he had always emphasized to his children the importance of hard work. There is much to remember of him, and much more to mourn.

At this time, the family requests that family and close friends meet for a visitation at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN 37075 on February 2nd, 2025 at 2:00p.m. Funeral services will be held the same location starting at 3:00p.m., followed by a burial within the cemetery.
