I first met Dave in 1969-70 when he was playing in a band called Comfort. He was one of the most gentle souls I've ever had the privilege of knowing.
Rest well my friend!

I knew Dave for several years while I was on staff and he was a docent for The Gamble House. He walked into a room with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. Dave always brightened my day with his quirky sense of humor and his kind way.

Luke was a gentle, creative and honest man. I consider it a rare privilege to have called him my buddy for 56 years.

I am SO saddened to hear about Dave's passing! He was such a thoughtful, caring, intelligent, talented guy. I am honored to have known him and seen him play music many, many times, including in my own backyard. I traveled with him to see the Dog Tones in Truckee and met his good friends Mitch and Lynn. It's really nice to see messages here from Mrs. Faber and Lynn; it makes me feel more connected to Dave.
I received some of those hand-made thank you notes and greeting cards from Dave, and have kept every one. Now they mean more to me than ever. God bless you, my friend.

Dave Bower was a truly simple, yet powerful man. I consider myself insanely fortunate to have known this man for more than half of my life. We shared our thoughts and well-wishes for the last 45 years and had much in common: music, black&white photography, travel, trains, books and several close friends. It is true that Dave was everyone's best friend. He was a rare, genuine, kind soul - always. When chatting with him recently, he urged me to get back to my writing and fill the need of hospice patients who require help writing their memoirs. I wish I could have written his. His impact on others was such that I can't imagine the world without him. Dave was brilliant, talented and humble, but always had time for others. No, not just time; Dave would key into exactly what he could offer to cheer, teach, or support you. Dave, we miss you already, -Shirley

Thank you for this lovely, and well-deserved, tribute to our beloved Dave, also known to us as Luke. It is heartbreaking that he has passed, because he was one of the best people I´ve ever known--with such qualities mentioned herein that Jesus would certainly be proud. He was beautiful inside and out.... He will be--already is--so dearly missed. What a loss to us here on earth, but a blessing to have known him and to have been able to call him a friend. Thankfully, he got to spend his last year and more with his family, which undoubtedly made him very happy, including the daily walks that were so important to him. And I cannot imagine a better passing, to have had his family with him throughout the last full day, and his sister Susan by his side that morning when he saw again his parents and Trixie, and was wrapped into the arms of Jesus. Our loss is most certainly Heaven´s gain.

What a beautiful tribute to a caring and gentle guy! Dave was always pleasant and friendly growing up and kind of quiet but he had a sweet nature that we always enjoyed. So sorry his family is suffering the loss of Dave! I have so many memories of his ( your) Mom and Dad and also of Trixie! I´m certain there was a loving celebration at that reunion.
