David Lorenzo Brand, a gifted artist and devoted husband and father, peacefully passed away at home at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience. He died on April 23, 2024 in Bountiful, UT. He was born on October 27, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Margaret June (Harris) Brand and Karl H. Brand. He married his sweetheart and the love of his life, Christine Huber, on January 6, 1990 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
David shared 36 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Christine, and together they endeavored to nurture a blended family of 10 children. Despite the intricate dynamics and challenges, several of David's 8 children recall him as a father who earnestly (though perhaps not always patiently) sought reconciliation and connection with them.
A passionate artist, David specialized in painting landscapes. His oil paintings, celebrated for their vivid colors and depth, adorned galleries in Utah and Jackson, Wyoming.
Star Valley, Wyoming, held a special place in his heart, and he found solace and inspiration at the Huber family ranch, where he depicted the rugged beauty of Utah and Wyoming's landscapes on canvas.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, David was deeply devoted to his faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in various capacities within the church, including on the Stake High Council, ward bishopric, and as High Priest Group Leader. His commitment to the gospel and temple service were central to his life.
David will be remembered not only for his artistic talents but also for his kindness and generosity.
He was a friend to many, and he touched numerous lives and leaves behind cherished memories that will endure.
David is survived by his wife, Christine Huber Brand, brothers, Karl R. (Carol) Brand and James / Jimmy (Rose) Brand and, by his children, sons Greer Brand, Logan (Jamie) Brand, Aaron (Kamilee) Brand and Samuel (Erin) Brand and daughters Traci (Jim) Nelson, Shauna Brand, Terri Brand and Sarah (Michael) Fox; and by his step-children Ami (Spencer) Robinson, and Reed (Misty) Sessions. David is also survived by 33 grandchildren and by his former wife, Lucy Brand.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Karl H. Brand and Margaret June (Harris) Brand, and by his sister in law, Rose Marie Brand.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 27, 2024 with a viewing beginning at 9:00 am and the service beginning at 10:00 am. The service location is the LDS church building at 650 South 200 East, Bountiful, UT 84010.
Interment will immediately follow, held at Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, UT 84010.
To honor David's life, his family kindly requests that donations be made to the local Bountiful Food Bank in lieu of flowers.
May his paintings continue to inspire, and his spirit live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his life.
