David Broome
David Eugene Broome, age 68, of York, S.C., passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The family has planned a celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Friday December 8th, 2023, at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Reid McAteer officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, David was the son of the late James Glenn Broom and Marlene Rogers Broom. He was a 1974 graduate of Fort Mill High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. David enjoyed fishing, walking, spending time with his friends and family and was a big fan of the U.S.C. Gamecocks.
David is survived by his girlfriend, Deborah Keen of York, S.C; his son, Casey Broome (Erica) of Edgemoor, S.C.; his daughters, Lindsay Broome (Scott Thompson) of Jacksonville, N.C; Heather Chenkus of Charlotte, N.C; Nikki Chenkus of Mamaroneck, NY; his sister, Cindy Broom of York, S.C; and grandchildren: Aaron Broome, Willow Bramasco, Christian Zamora, Lilly Lopez, Luna Lopez, Payton Collins, Maverick Chenkus, and Levi Broome.
David was preceded in death by his sister, Louann Broom Fite and granddaughter, Phoebe Bramasco.
