David Allen Cady was born to Allen and Clara (Andersen) Cady on March 20, 1944, in Marshall, Minnesota. David was born into a farming family, the oldest of four children. He claims he started farming at the age of four, driving (steering) the tractor across the field while his dad stacked hay on the rack. David and his brother, Richard, farmed together for 50 years until the price of one bag of seed corn cost more than what he purchased an acre of land for when he first started farming.
David was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and graduated from the Lynd High School in 1962. He served six years in the Air Force National Guard, 40 years on the Lyons Township board, and 20 years on the Southwest Dairy board.
David and Gayle Sandberg were united in marriage on December 18, 1965, at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Together they shared over 59 years of marriage together and raised three children: Kristin, James, and Melissa.
David was a hard worker and was always proud of his farm. He had a long-standing curiosity for how things worked and always seemed to be tinkering on something. David thoroughly enjoyed his three grandchildren and time spent with the guys at Mike's Cafe or attending services at Living Word Lutheran Church.
