David Cartwright

PRICE - David Francis Cartwright, 76 years old, left this earthly life in the early morning of January 22nd, 2026. David was born on August 23rd, 1949 in Dragerton, Utah to his parents John Leslie Cartwright and Olga Ann Cattani. In grade school, he met a girl who would become his closest friend, high school sweetheart, and soulmate Suzanne Maricich. David was a proud husband. Suzanne was never far out of his sight; he was fiercely protective and ever-adoring of her - even so far as worrying how he would continue on without her after this life, since he was being forced to go first. They graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1969 and were married on February 14th, 1970 in Lakeside, California at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

David lived a life of continual service. If there was someone around him who needed help - he was the first to offer assistance nearly every time. He served in the United States Army from 1970-1972, and shortly after returning home he started his 30-year career in law enforcement. In that position, he was able to serve and protect those around him - as he had always done. He started serving as a Deputy in Cache County, then moved to serve at the Price City Police Department. He spent eight years working at Utah Power and Light before returning to service in the police force for Price City, where he retired in 2008. He began work no less than two days later at Peczuh Printing. David couldn't sit still as long as the sun was up, working from dawn to dusk and sometimes after. He was constantly building, fixing, and improving his home and yard for his wife and family because those things were the most important to him. To gather at Nana and Papa's house was to find sanctuary.

David is survived by his wife, Suzanne; their children, Toni (Todd) Bettino, Jeffrey Cartwright, Jennifer Cartwright, and Theodore (BrookLyn) Cartwright, as well as his sisters, Pat Hanke and Claudia Armstrong; his brothers, Thomas (Cindy) Cartwright and Wayne (Donna) Cartwright, and nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many loving in-laws. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Olga; parents-in-law, George and Lucinne Maricich; his sisters, Shirley (Bunky) Peak, Barbara (Bob) Thompson, and Judy (Frank) Peczuh; his brother, John "Sonny" (Barbara) Cartwright Junior; his brothers-in-law, David Armstrong and Joe Hanke, and his grandson, Cameron Rutherford.

There are few people who knew David that don't have a positive story they could share about him. He had a special way of making everyone feel like they were the most important person in any room. The call he had to service went beyond what was duty, and extended deep into the most meaningful aspects of life. David's entire family was built upon the generosity and tender care that He and Suzanne exhibited and cultivated throughout their almost 56 years together. We will be forever grateful for every minute of time spent with him.

I remember David as a young man going to Notre Dame riding the bus every morning from Dragerton to Price my name is jon stimac and yes, I remember the Cartwright family when I heard Judy had passed. I was devastated before that. It was Dave Armstrong, who went to school with me in Notre Dame in the same class, but I remember David a shy kid who seemed to have asmile on his face at all times the good Lord has a good one in David. God bless.
