Verne David Clark, 87, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 8:42 am Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Pleasant View Assisted Living Facility in Hannibal, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

A visitation celebrating Dave's life will be held at 11:00 am until time of the service, Thursday July 10, 2025, at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Dave was born on June 8, 1938, to George Edward and Shirley Irene (Heacock) Clark. He resided in Ilasco, MO up on Country Hill. He attended Ilasco school all his life graduating from Ilasco High School in 1956 with a small graduating class of four students.

He attended Hannibal LaGrange College for 1 year, 1956 and 1957. He joined the USMO National Guard in 1957 and was part of the USA Reserves until 1959.

He married Betty Jean Williams in 1957 and has 4 children with that union. David Gregory “Droop” Clark (Betty Jean) of New London, MO, Terri Clark Wade (Scot), Lisa Clark Gordley and Lori Clark Tischer (Darell) all of Hannibal.

He later married Allegra “Jean” Scyoc in 1975 in Hannibal and became a stepfather to Amy Heffington Sims and Natasha Heffington.

He later married Madalyn Flanagan (deceased) in Washington and became stepfather to Thomas and LaRayne Luthi.

Dave is survived by his four children, four stepchildren, his sisters Gerry June (DeeDee) Higgins of Hannibal and Sherri Clark Sheelar (Tom) of Houston, TX, and a sister-in-law, Linda Clark of Hannibal; 8 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 nephew and 2 nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steve Clark and son in law, Greg Gordley.

He moved to Everett, Washington in 1990 where he worked for the Washington State Department of Health & Social Services for 24 years as an office manager. He also became the business owner of a Corporate Office Cleaning Business.

Prior early employment was twelve years as a Journeyman Ironworker for Local 577 and Local 396 where he helped build Clarance Cannon Dam prior to his move to the state of Washington.

He was raised in the Saverton Ilasco Methodist Church.

He enjoyed skiing, skydiving, hunting, politics, and sports.

He returned to Missouri in 2016 and resided in his home place in Ilasco on Marble Creek Road (Country Hill). At that stage in his life much of his free time was spent down at Java Jive with his buddies at the coffee shop along with a special friend, Dakota Meshko.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at DaVita Hannibal Dialysis.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
