David Wayne Clymer, 73, of Yukon, Oklahoma, a devoted father, husband, and dedicated union member, passed away peacefully on his 73rd birthday, March 15, 2025, due to complications from Non-Hodkins Lymphoma.
Born in 1952, David lived a life of love, hard work, and steadfast commitment to his family and community.
David is survived by his wife, Tamara and his six children: Cindy, Sandee, Michael, Cathleen, David Wayne II, and Robert; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Patricia Y. Lambright and Judy K. Johnson; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
David and Tamara built a life filled with love and laughter. He took immense pride in his family, always offering his wisdom, love, and unwavering support.
A hardworking and enthusiastic advocate for workers' rights, David was an active union member of the UPW and the UAW and proudly served as a steward during his time with the USWA Local 998. He believed deeply in fairness and believed in standing up for his fellow workers, leaving a lasting impact through his efforts in the labor movement.
One of his proudest moments was meeting Vice-President Al Gore during a Union / Family trip, a memory he held dear.
David is preceded in death by his parents, David Lee and Helen Yvonne Clymer; his sister, Debra Ann Holloway; and grandson, Stephen Tyler Gonzales.
David will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of David's life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Smith Memorial Chapel located at 220 North 1st Street in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Crescent, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street in Guthrie.
David's memory will forever be a source of love, strength, and inspiration. He will always be remembered as a kind person.
