David Wayne Cochran, age 63, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 20, 1961, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, he was a cherished husband, devoted dad, and beloved Pepaw.
David was known for his warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He spent his career as an Avionics Technician, first proudly serving in the United States Air Force and later bringing his expertise to Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, David devoted his time to serving the Lord. Whether it was through yard work, gathering programs, singing, or counseling at the local pregnancy center, he was always eager to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed camping in the mountains, taking in God's creation, especially when his grandchildren joined him. Other passions were bowling, taking great pride in caring for his guns, and DJing for the SHARE Pathfinders. No matter how he felt, he would gather their favorite songs and play music until they were tired, relishing the happiness it brought to them.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 23½ years, Vicky Neil Cashwell Cochran; his children, David Michael Cochran (Christie) and Shannon Leigh Cochran Butler; his bonus children, Tiffany Nicole Rouse and James Chesley Rouse (AKA Chet); and his grandchildren, Evan, Emma, Madison, Kensley, and Aubrey. He also leaves behind many who were like family to him: Tiffane, Melanie, Maddie, Gillette, Nala, and RJ. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, James Everette Cochran and Janet Lynn Blow, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. Dave left behind his loving fur babies, who comforted him during his years of sickness.
David is preceded in death by his parents: Tommie & Geraldine Ashmore Cochran, younger brother, Michael Keith Cochran, and mother-in-law Betty Edge Cashwell.
David was a man of faith and integrity, always willing to offer words of encouragement. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A family visitation will be held at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Dillon, SC, this Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. A memorial service will be held later this month in Jackson, Georgia.
Dave, you will be forever missed but never forgotten.
