David Allen Comer

David Allen Comer of South Boston passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the age of 72. He was born on January 23, 1952 to the late Andrew Glenn "Buck" Comer and the late Hazel Elliott Comer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sarah Meeler Comer.
David was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a maintenance supervisor. He was a lifetime member of Midway Volunteer Fire Department, member of South Boston Fire Company, Hyco Ruritan Club and Halifax County Rescue Squad. David was also a member of Seven Oaks Baptist Church. He loved working in his shop, helping his neighbors, fishing, hunting, & farming. His hunting buddies knew him as "Rattletrap" on the CB radio. David had been sick for many years but he always had a smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; his children, Davey Gene Comer (Jannay), Tammy Comer Moorefield (Ricky), Andrew Keith Comer (Holly) and step-son, Eddie B. Duffer (Marsha);
6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 step- grandchildren; siblings, Brenda Macy (James), Joyce Lowery, & Richard D. Comer (Kathy); numerous nieces & nephews and not to be forgotten, his furry companion, Bandit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a child, Scott Allen Comer; grandchild, Sean Patrick Harlow; brother, Wallace Anderson Comer; brother-in-law, Roy Gerald Lowery and father and mother-in-law, James Clyde Meeler Sr., and Emma Frazier Meeler.
Special thanks to his loyal friends and caregivers, Dustin Hess, Danny Martin, and Dabo Owen, for their many years of service to David.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ricky Whitlow, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
