David Richard Corbett, Sr. of Pine Meadows Country Club in Eustis passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the age of 94 years. He was born in Fairfax, Georgia and moved to this area at the age of 9. Dave proudly served his country in the US Navy during the latter part of World War II. He returned home and married the love of his life, Beverly in 1948. David went to work for Minute Maid as a transport refrigeration mechanic. In 1952, he was recalled to the Navy to serve during the Korean War. After his second term of Navy service, he returned to his job at Minute Maid, which was then acquired by Coca Cola. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish and was a league bowler. Dave was a member of the Grand Island Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter and worked on the grounds. He absolutely loved his church family and was very dedicated to his service with the church. He was known by many as the best greeter the church had known.
Dave is remembered and will be dearly missed by his wife of 72 years, Bev; son, David Richard Corbett, Jr. of Lakeland, Florida; daughter, Lisa Shannon Givens of Butler, Tennessee; grandchildren, David Richard Corbett III and his wife, Corie of Haines City, Florida, Elizabeth Ann Kilpatrick and her husband, William of Homeland, Florida, Sarah Emily Leo and her husband, Trenton of Bluff City, Tennessee, Charles Richard Gardener Givens of Winchester, Virginia and Jessie Clara Givens of Durham, North Carolina; as well as 3 great grandchildren.
