David was born and raised the youngest of two sons to Benedict and Lucille (Curtis)
Deinard in Minneapolis, MN. As a young architect, he lived in Northern Virginia, where
he was Vice President and General Manager of Urban Planners, Inc, a subsidiary of
Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Under Mr. Deinard's stewardship, UPI prepared
documents for 6000 units of housing worldwide and he personally oversaw the
completed construction of several new residential communities in the Midwestern
states. ln 1977, David and his family settled in a home he designed and built in Stuart,
Florida and most recently resided in the PGA Village.
Mr. Deinard joined with Karl Herrlin to found Herrlin-Deinard Construction Company,
designers and builders of luxury residences and select commercial, religious, and
educational facilities on the Treasure Coast. After Mr. Herrlin's death, Mr. Deinard
continued to lead that company until his retirement in 1997.
David served his country in the Psychological Warfare component of the U.S. Army. He
was an Emeritus Member of the American Institute of Architects, and a Governor of the
Yale Club of the Treasure Coast. David and his beloved wife, Lynn, enjoyed spending
summers in northern Wisconsin boating and fishing, hosting family at their home in
Florida, and taking trips abroad.
Mr. Deinard was preceded in death by his parents, elder brother Ethan, and his wife of
23 years, Lynn. He is survived by his daughter Allison Benson (Jerry) of Savannah, GA
and son CDR (ret) Jonathan Deinard (Nina) of Murfreesboro, TN, and his four adored
grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Benson and Andrea and Nathan Deinard.
Arrangements are entrusted to All County Funeral Home & Crematory with a private
family service to follow. The family wishes to extend notable gratitude to David's
caretakers for the last several years, Vonneth Drummond, Amy Joyce, and multiple
neighbors who supported and loved him.
