In Loving Memory of David

David passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born on July 5, 1972, and lived a life filled with music, joy, resilience, and faith.

David was, at his core, a musician. Music was not simply something he enjoyed; it was how he expressed himself and made sense of the world around him. Like David in the Bible, he used lyrics and rhythm to give voice to his hopes, dreams, and deepest aspirations. His words carried meaning, emotion, and truth.

Charismatic and full of life, David had an energy that was impossible to ignore. He pursued music engineering at Miami Dade College and began sharing his talent early, rapping in high school and later performing at concerts alongside well-known artists. Music gave him purpose and connection, and it remained a part of who he was, no matter where life led him. Even as his health challenges grew, David never lost his determination. Refusing to be defined by limitations, he returned to school and earned his certification as a pharmacy technician, a reflection of his resilience and his desire to keep moving forward with intention and strength.

The youngest among many, David carried a joy that was effortless and contagious. He had a natural sense of humor and a genuine love for people, and that love was returned to him many times over. His laughter, charm, and warmth could brighten any room, especially when he was surrounded by good company. He had a way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and at ease.

Today, we celebrate David. We celebrate his music, his laughter, his perseverance, and the love he leaves behind. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit continues to resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Lumande and Paulna Denis, and his sibling, Pierre Richard Denis. He is survived by his four siblings, Solange Denis Jeanty, Marie Denis Evans, Carline Denis Barnes, and Paul Douglas Denis, who loved him deeply and shared in a bond that time and circumstance could never break.

He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Nancy Jeanty, Tanya Jeanty, Bebe Jeanty, Nathaniel Denis Augustave, Ethan LaFontant Augustave, Chauncy Alonzo Barnes, Gerald Lumande Barnes, Adia Elise Denis, and Latoya Scott; and a host of other cherished family members and friends.
