David DeVigili Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 12, 2023.
On June 8, 2023 David V. DeVigili passed away in his home surrounded by family. He was born on October 22, 1936 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. David served the City of Binghamton for 36 years. Ten years as a Policeman, and twenty-six with the Fire Department retiring as a Lieutenant.
David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was in love with his wife Candy until the very end. He would often boast about her as well as all of his children and grandchildren to anyone he met.
David enjoyed fishing, cooking, story-telling, playing the trumpet and harmonica, reading his Bible, and most of all spending time with his family. He especially loved "music night" when they would all gather together to play music and sing.
He was also a member of the Rod and Gun club in Greene, NY, and often talked about the friends he made there.
David was a member of Living Word Church for over thirty years. He loved to share the joy he'd found in Jesus with anyone he could, posing the question; "Where do you go to church?" to many a waitress, healthcare worker, fellow diner or randomly encountered stranger.
David was a lover of adventure; he had a zest for life, a quick wit, and a spirit of generosity. Those who knew him were sure to have experienced those traits, his one-of-a-kind personality always shining through. He started many businesses, enjoyed being busy and would always shoot for the stars, never believing in an "impossible situation."
David was predeceased by his parents Emalia "Emma" Fendryk and Victor DeVigili, and his brother James "Jimmy" DeVigili. He leaves his sweet memory to be cherished by his wife Candace (Frisbie) DeVigili, his children Kathy (Dave)
(Short) Vickie (Joe) Laughney, Laurie DeVigili-Dart, Joe (Marialaina) DeVigili, Amy (Joshua) Kiefer, Sara (Brian) Shelley, David (Christine) DeVigili, his sisters, Delores Barlow, Sylvia Yannuzzi, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
David's family would like to give a special thanks to Lourdes Hospice Care for their compassionate care and personal guidance, which helped David and his family so much during this difficult journey.
Calling hours for David will be at Living Word Church from 1 to 2:30pm on Saturday, June 17th followed by a Memorial Service.
Donations in honor of David may be made to Living Word Church

Candy, So very sorry to hear of your loss. David sounds like a wonderful person, never a stranger, even to people he just met. May you find comfort and peace in the Lord during this sad time. Blessings to you and your family.
