Brown Funeral Home - PlattsburghDavid DiRenzo left this earth to join his wife Rosie on the mountains of heaven March 23, 2026.
Dave was born in Lyons, NY, the second son of Charles Anthony DiRenzo and Florence Elena DeMatteis. Dave told many stories about the shenanigans he was involved in growing up in Clyde, NY and the close friendships formed. After graduation from high school, Dave went on to receive his bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College, followed by a long career with the Social Security Administration beginning in 1961 in New York City. After holding positions with Social Security in Oswego, the Bronx, Auburn, Syracuse and Rochester, Dave moved to Plattsburgh in 1968. In 1976 he was promoted to district manager and served in that position until his retirement in 1999.
Dave proudly served on a number of non-profit boards including for the Clinton County ARC board for 18 years, including as acting president for two years. Dave served 8 years for the YMCA, and as president of the board. He was proud to be involved with establishing Meals on Wheels in the Plattsburgh area, serving as the first president of the program.
A huge fan of basketball and football, Dave enjoyed his role as a referee for both sports and was an umpire for baseball. He officiated many high school games in Clinton County. Dave enjoyed racquetball and both alpine and cross-country skiing. Dave and his wife Rosemary were frequent volunteers for races at Mt. Van Hoevengberg.
As avid hikers, Dave and Rosie were 46ers twice around. Many lifelong, wonderful friendships and relationships were forged on these hiking trips. Dave and Rosie found great pleasure in introducing people to hiking and watching them continue their journeys on the beautiful Adirondack mountains.
Above all, Dave dearly loved his family. He is survived by his children Anthony DiRenzo, Kathleen Glenn-Roberts (Larry), Lisa Renee Keegan (Jim), Karin Glenn Kellman, Jacki Arevalo (Louis) and Joseph DiRenzo. Surviving grandchildren include Alexis Michaud, Brody Michaud (Alexa), Josephine and Fynn White, and Jett and Joli Kellman. Surviving great grandchildren are Ariah Welsh and Rory Michaud. Dave was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Rosemary in 2022, by his previous wife Helen “Sue” Larabee in 1978, his parents and his brother Joseph.
A heartfelt thank you to all those who helped Dave in the last chapter of his life, including close friends and caregivers. A special thank you to Tania Latimore for her provision of care with dignity, humor, and kindness.
