David "Dixie" Dummer

David E. "Dixie" Dummer, 72, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on October 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with infections at Dycora Transitional Health. A Celebration of David's Life will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Randal R. Carey will officiate. The Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146 will pay their respects at 12:45 p.m. Military honors by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146 will follow the Celebration of Life. David was born on September 1, 1946 in Beaver Dam the son of Delmar and Clara (Possin) Dummer. He was a 1964 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, immediately after graduation David entered the U.S. Air Force serving 4 years. He then began employment at John Deere Horicon Works completing a 4 year apprenticeship program and graduated as an Industrial Electrician. He also served 11 years on the Beaver Dam Police Department as an Auxiliary Police Officer. On October 11, 1974, David was united in marriage to Victoria Vockroth in Beaver Dam. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church in Beaver Dam. He served on a variety of boards; Dodge Central Credit Union, The Exchange Club, and Wings Over Wisconsin. He was also a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146. Friends were extremely important to David. Throughout his life, he enjoyed all the things he loved to do in his spare time with his friends which included many sporting and racing events. What a Fan! David is survived by his beloved wife Vicki; sisters: Sharon (David) Keil, Judy (Marty) Lauth, Deb Stancer and Marcia (Ron) Schuld. He had many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Scott and Mark Dummer, and brother-in-law Joe Stancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Police K-9 unit or "Good Neighbors" fund raiser with Praise Assembly of God and BDACT for a new parking lot. David wishes to thank Beaver Dam Community Hospital and Dycora Transitional Health for their care and compassion over the last several months. One of David's favorite sayings; "Do not despair for you have a friend in Jesus." David will be deeply missed. The Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is caring for the family.
