David E. "Stick" Price, age 80, of Patrick, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Morrell Nursing Center. Born on January 21, 1946, in West Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Jo Emery Price.
Mr. Price was a graduate of West Chicago Community High School, where his father served as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. He honorably served his country as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, Stick dedicated nearly 30 years to Duke Energy (formerly CP&L) before retiring.
A devoted member of Patrick Baptist Church for over 30 years, Mr. Price faithfully served as the church treasurer and was known for his quiet commitment to serving others. He cared deeply for the widows in the church and community, affectionately referring to them as “his little women.”
His commitment to community service extended beyond the church, as he was involved for many years with the Patrick Cemetery Committee, the Patrick Pinestraw Committee, and the Patrick Town Council. After retirement, he continued his service by working in maintenance for the Town of Patrick. Stick’s passions included woodworking and furniture making in his backyard workshop, fondly known as “Stick’s Tinkershop,” as well as racing and maintaining late model racecars. Above all, he loved his family dearly and was a proud "Pa-pa" to his grandchildren. Stick enjoyed helping his wife cook and clean the dishes daily, as they considered this, "their time."
Mr. Price was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Joy Price, brother Bob Price, sister Linda Price, and granddaughter Kylie Jess Hause.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Henrietta Price; children Sherry Matthews of Hartsville, SC, Rick Price of Durham, NC, Jeannie (Kyle) Hause of Hartsville, SC, and Crystal Jordan (Danny Smothers) of Bishopville, SC; grandchildren Amber Matthews, Haley (Matt) Harp, Landon Matthews (Emma Glock), Noah Hause (Taylin Gainey), and Rachel (Bobby) Lee; great-grandchildren Lily, Autumn, Weston, and Ellison; brothers Jack (Annie) Price of Minnesota, Dale (Louie) Price of Arkansas, Tom (Kathy) Price of IN, and Dean (Eileen) Price of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Max and Bella.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Morrell Nursing Home and Crescent Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Mr. Price.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Patrick Baptist Church, with Pastor Grover Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Patrick Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2026 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Patrick Baptist Church, P.O. Box 23, Patrick, SC 29584.
