David Lee Ellington, born June 4, 1955, in Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at the age of 70. He departed this world from Moses Cone Hospital, surrounded by the family he cherished and who cherished him right back.

David spent over two decades shaping metal and lives as a sheet metal fabricator for companies like Kay Heating & Air and Tri-City Mechanical. His work was not just a job but a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication.

When he wasn't bending metal, David could be found bending an ear about his latest outdoor concert adventure or spinning tales of his escapades at the Barnbuster. A true lover of music, hotrods, and motorcycles, he lived life at full throttle, never missing a chance to hit the dance floor with his characteristic free spirit.

Preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Martha Beverly Ellington, David leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love. He is survived by his children, Aaron Ellington (Anna) and Brittany Freeman; his sisters, Brenda Haire and Diane Toney; his step-mother, Kay Ellington; and his grandchildren, Mora Freeman, Cole Freeman, Wyatt Olmstead, Aaden Ellington, Ashton Ellington, and Adley Ellington. His vibrant presence will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were lucky enough to know him.

While the world may be a little quieter without David's infectious energy, his spirit will live on in the stories we share and the dances we dare to dance. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date, where we will gather to remember a man who truly knew how to live.
