David Etter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri - Prairie Village on Dec. 5, 2025.
David Andrew Etter passed away November 28, 2025 after a short illness. David was born November 7, 1952 in Waynesville, Missouri to Andrew and Doris Ann Etter. He was the eldest of three children.

The family moved to the Kansas City area when David was a child, where his father owned and operated an auto parts store.

David grew up in the auto parts business, assisting in his dad's store. After his military service from 1972-1974 in the US Army, he returned to assist in his father's business, and then moved to other auto parts businesses. He was a parts counter person then advanced to outside sales, spending most of his career with O'Reilly Auto Parts. David retired in 2010.

David met Ramona and her girls in 1982 and they married in 1986. They spent more than 40 years together.

David loved camping and canoeing, and when he met Ramona, he introduced her girls to the joys of camping in places like Colorado and The Badlands of South Dakota. Family canoe trips on the Buffalo River were an annual event. Part of those experiences were fueled by his love of photography.

David enjoyed his pets and was definitely a devoted 'cat dad' as well as loving his cocker spaniels.

David is survived by his wife, Ramona, daughters Amanda Bradford and Elizabeth Meredith, granddaughter Mara Bradford, and their families. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Dill, Sharon Sue Devlin and their families.

In lieu of a service, the family will have a private celebration of life.

Yesterday

David was a good man. From growing up in Olathe to introducing him to his future wife, our paths crossed many times over the decades. If talking on the phone or see him in person, the man never changed. His beaming smile and characteristic laugh, but most all in a good mood. Rest well my friend. I´ll see you on the other side.
