David A. Evans, 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Chelmsford, England and of proud Welsh heritage, David was the son of the late Merlin and Agnes Evans, brother of Linda (Evans) Ward and Keith Ward. Adventurous in spirit, David achieved his life-long dream of emigrating to America in 1979, where he worked as an accomplished composites engineer for American Cyanamid, Lear Fan, Martin Marietta, Sikorsky Aircraft and Foster-Miller. He spent the latter half of his career as a successful entrepreneur developing and marketing advanced composite materials. He is a holder of multiple US and international patents related to composite materials.
Outside of work, David was fascinated with science novels, anthropology, and hobby trains. He particularly loved cultivating his English Garden and peaceful times in his canoe.
David was a loving husband for 54 years to his wife, Pat. He very much loved his four children; John Evans, Megan Pantuliano, Owen Evans and Huw Evans, his two grandchildren; Carys Evans and Zachary Evans, his daughter-in-law; Amy (Grelle) Evans, and his son-in-law; Edmund Pantuliano.
David was very much loved by family and friends, and he will be missed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation to the Lowell General Hospital, in recognition of the kind and supportive care given to David.
