David Wright Fay, 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
David was born on February 9, 1949, in Lima, Ohio, to Paul and Virginia (Golliday) Fay. On December 6, 1969, he married Kathleen (McGreevy) Fay, who survives in Lima.
David went to elementary school at St. John’s in Lima, and then to LCC where he graduated in 1967. After graduation, he attended and graduated from Columbus Technical Institute in 1969. David then enlisted in the US Navy from 1969 to 1976. He worked assembly line at Ford Motor for two years. Then with a friend, he was co-owner of Partners Motor Sales in Lima for 10 years. After that he was co-owner of Auto World in Celina. He always loved cars and going to car shows and car auctions. Because of his mother, Dave also loved flowers and gardening.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel (Bobby Jo) Fay, Douglas (Deanna) Fay, and Christopher (Paige) Fay; grandchildren, Tyler Fay, Ashley Fay, Carolos Briggs, Kelya Briggs, Will Doyle, Xavier Doyle Keegan Fay, Ireland Fay, Carter Fay, Lillian Fay, Branson Bowerman, Zane Bowerman, Allie Bowerman, Maddie Bowerman, Addison Fay, Emily Fay, Liam Fay, Gabrielle Fay, and Kilian Fay; eight great-grandchildren; a brother Stephen Fay; and a sister Susan (Terry) Luczak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Laura Marie Fay; and a sister Virginia Gallenz.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at St. Gerards Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
The family asks that all who are in attendance dress casually.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Special Olympics.
