David Wilson Ferguson III

David Wilson Ferguson III, born July 7, 1953, passed from this life leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable stories. Born to David and Jacqueline Ferguson, Dave grew up with a strong work ethic and a drive for perfection that shaped every chapter of his life.
A man of many skills, Dave worked as a mechanic, marine mechanic, Teamster car carrier, and-his favorite role of all- United States Coast Guard Merchant Marine Boat Captain. Whether on land or water, if something had an engine, Dave would fix it in a meticulous way.
Dave was known for his quick wit, sarcasm, and jokester personality that could light up any gathering. He enjoyed Happy Hours in his "prized" Garage Bar with family and friends, listening to music where the cooler was always stocked with ice cold Coors Light.
He enjoyed cooking alongside Sue making his famous spaghetti sauce and carrot cake, and evenings at his fire pit or sunset cruises on his Parker. He also loved biking the Lewes/Rehoboth bike trail.
He lived a life full of hobbies, passions, and adventures. Over the years he enjoyed hunting with friends at Veasey Cove, playing guitar, feeding the birds and deer, and offering hilarious commentary during "Sunday Ramp Day" at the boat ramp. He was an accomplished shuffleboard player, proudly competing on many county championship teams, and he loved a good game of darts. A motorcycle enthusiast, Dave owned several bikes throughout his life. He also loved the air shows especially watching the Blue Angels. He had many boats-work boat, center consoles, john boat, and cabin cruiser -reflecting his lifelong connection to the water.
Dave's presence, humor, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
May he forever have calm waters and a cold Coors Light in his hand.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Susan Ferguson, with whom he shared a deep bond, countless laughs, and many mornings side by side working on puzzles in their sunroom. He is also survived by his children, Carrie Booher (Eric) and David Ferguson; his sister, Joyce Ferguson (Danny); and his cherished grandchildren, Landan Booher, Bailey Peters, and Alexander Booher.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, beginning with a time of visitation with family from 10 – 11 am, the service will begin at 11 am at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709.
