WOLCOTTVILLE - David J. Fiandt, 92, of Blackman Lake, Wolcottville, Indiana, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Wolcottville to David W. and Nancy (Reed) Fiandt.
On April 5, 1953, in Kendallville, he married Zula M. Davis.
Mr. Fiandt honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, during the occupation in Germany, and the Army Active Reserves from 1951 to 1954 and 1956 to 1957.
He owned and operated Fiandt Insurance Services in Rome City for 17 years. He also served on the Orange Township Fire Department for 40 years, the Rome City Town Board and Noble County Council
Dave was a member of Wolcottville United Methodist Church, Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, the 40&8 Post #642, Corunna DAV Chapter 43, Kendallville Elks Lodge 1194, Kendallville Fraternal Order of Eagles 985, and a lifetime member of the Rome City Lions Club. He was also an active member of the Veterans Honor Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Zula M. Fiandt, of Blackman Lake; a daughter, Michelle (Dean) Gillespie, of Kendallville; a daughter-in-law, Carla Fiandt, of Albion; four grandchildren, Kerri (Micky) Stewart, Melissa Fiandt, David M. (Jamie) Fiandt and Doug (Teresa) Gillespie; eight great-grandchildren, Bobby Blum, Madison Blum, Logan Bidwell, Gavin Gillespie, Gage Gillespie, Talon Fiandt, Jaxson Fiandt and Maximus Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mitch Fiandt on Nov. 23, 2024; a sister, Martha Cobbs; and a brother, Herman Fiandt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, S.R. 9 North, Wolcottville.
Funeral services will also be on Monday, May 12, 2025, beginning at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville.
Honor guard services will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers are Kerri Stewart, Melissa Fiandt, Madison Blum, Gage Gillespie, Jaxson Fiandt and Maximus Shaffer.
Active pallbearers are David M. Fiandt, Doug Gillespie, Bobby Blum, Logan Bidwell, Gavin Gillespie and Talon Fiandt.
Preferred memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Veterans Honor Guard.
