David Forbes, 77, of Parsons, died Wednesday, May 22, 2025 at his home.
He was born October 26, 1947 at Parsons, a son of Hilbert Carl "Pistol" and Luella Josephine "Lou" (Sherman) Forbes. He attended Parsons schools, graduating from the Parsons High School in 1965. He later attended the Parsons Junior College. He was employed many years as a mechanic at LaForge and Budd Construction. He also worked on cars at the shop at his house.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed woodworking and metal work and did a lot of work on the church building through the years. He also built several cars and furniture pieces. He was also a Katy Days volunteer.
Survivors include: two brothers – Gary Forbes, Logan, UT, Roger Forbes, and his wife, Mary Ann, Overland Park, KS; one sister – Nancy Cooley, Overland Park, KS; four nieces – Kimberly Thomas, Oakton, VA, Stephanie Hove, Oconomowoc, WI, Kyra Floyd, Overland Park, KS, Shannon Forbes, Steamboat Springs, CO; two nephews – Derek Forbes, Logan, UT, Kevin Forbes, Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by a sister in-law – Patricia Forbes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Carson -Wall Funeral Home with Reverends Jennifer Dawson and Derek Forbes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and they may be left at or mailed to the funeral home P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
