David Mark Forsberg, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on December 2, 1946, in Gully, Minnesota, to Palmer and Ethel (Nelson) Forsberg, David lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for those around him.
David attended Northrop Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 29, 1968, he married Barbara Anderson, marking the beginning of a devoted partnership that spanned many decades.
A skilled and hardworking individual, David worked as a self-employed painter alongside his brother Larry Forsberg for many years. Later in life, he took on the role of gambling manager for VFW Post 2793 in Thief River Falls and continued to support their operations even after retirement. His commitment to his community was evident through his lifetime memberships with VFW Post 2793 and DAV (Disabled American Veterans), as well as his involvement with the Military Order of the Cootie of the United States.
David found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and a loyal fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He also enjoyed frequent visits to Ingrams Candy Store, where he savored both sweet treats and warm camaraderie. Above all else, David cherished time spent with family and friends.
David's legacy is one of service, hard work, and kindness. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
Survivors include loving wife, Barbara of Thief River Falls, MN; sons, Troy (Mary Kay) Forsberg of Barnum, MN and Travis (Angela) Forsberg of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Ashley (Eric), Caleb, and Andersen; great-grandchildren, William and Paris; siblings, Roger (Sharon), Larry (LaVonne), Michael (Lynn), Vonnie (Roger), Julie (Bruce), Steven (Helen), Laurie, Susan (Jon), and Sandra (Dean); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
