David Fritzsche, 74, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025 in Chicago after a two-year illness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Pamela (née Teske); his three sons, Michael, Mark (Jessica), and Matthew (Patricia); six grandchildren-James, Owen, Reese, Maximillian, Johanna, and Paige; and two "brothers," Richard Teske and Mardy Walters.
David was the owner and operator of M. Fritzsche Trucking Co. for 45 years, a family business founded by his uncle and later run by his father, Moritz. He worked alongside his father for many years before taking over in the 1980s. The company specialized in moving industrial machinery with such skill and care that their work was often compared to the building of the pyramids.
Beyond his work, David was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and deep passion for classic cars and motorcycles. A devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast and muscle car aficionado, he found joy in restoring and preserving the beauty of each machine. After retiring in 2012, he transformed his former business garage into a personal workshop where he spent countless hours tinkering, polishing, and sharing stories with friends and family. Among his most prized possessions were his 1967 Chevrolet Impala, 1962 Dodge Dart, and 1995 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail-each a reflection of his craftsmanship and appreciation for timeless design.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W Belmont Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 2215 W Irving Park Road, Chicago, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Saint Benedict Catholic Church or the Neighborhood Boys and Girls Club.
