Retired Army SSG David Joelee Gause age 68 of Hope Mills departed this life Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Memorial service and military honors will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM in Wiseman Mortuary Chapel.
Burial: Florence National Cemetery at a later date.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Gause, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and proud U.S. Army veteran, who passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 68.
David honorably served his country for 20 years in the United States Army, dedicating his life to the values of duty, honor, and service. His military career was defined by unwavering commitment, strength, and integrity. After retiring from the Army, David embraced a new chapter as a proud and resilient small business owner.
David was born in Mullins, South Carolina, and raised in Aynor, South Carolina, where he developed a strong character, a solid work ethic, and became a role model to those around him. In his later years, he made his home in Hope Mills, North Carolina, where he was a respected and cherished member of both the community and his church family.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clyde Land and Rebecca Wilson Gause.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Gabriele Gause; his cherished daughters, Michelle and Daniela, and son, David Gause. His legacy includes his three grandsons: David, Luis, and Joel-each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. His memory will be held dear by his brother, Steve Gause, and wife Pam, and treasured by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
David's love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and the deep sense of pride he had in those he loved.
David touched the lives of many with his steady presence, warm spirit, and graciousness toward others. He will be remembered not only for his strength and service, but for the kindness he extended to everyone around him. His legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on Saturday, April 26th at 3:00 PM at Wiseman Mortuary, Inc. He will be laid to rest with the respect and dignity befitting a soldier.
