David L. Grieve, 84, of Carterville, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Integrity Healthcare of Marion.
A memorial gathering will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville, with reflections by John Vanderkolk.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Anne West Lindsey Library.
David was born July 29, 1940, in Alton, to David and Louise (Payne) Grieve. He married Rhoda M. (Kravets) Mark on May 29, 1985, in Morton Grove. Together they have shared 39 wonderful years.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda Grieve; step-sons, Geoffrey (Wendy) Mark and Joel (Ann) Mark; grandchildren, Snowden and Sophie Mark; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William "Bill" Collett, Donald (Diane) Kravets, and Katherine Wechsler; niece, Michele (Lyle) Grant.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Collett.
He retired after 22 years of service as a training officer for the Illinois State Police Crime Lab.
David thoroughly enjoyed cooking, opera and trying to solve the mysteries of the computer.
