David Bruce Groce, 60, of Midland, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 8, 2026. He was born in New Castle on April 26, 1965, to Roy and Helen (Dick) Groce.
David was a proud 1985 graduate of Blue River Valley Jr/Sr High school and one of his proudest accomplishments was his time on the wrestling mat, where he showcased his tenacity as a champion. He held the record for the fastest pin for many years, a testament to his dedication and athleticism.
David dedicated 28 years of his life to working at ATI Allegheny Ludlum Steel Technology, where he was not just an employee, but a beloved colleague and friend.
Beyond his career and achievements, David was a lover of adventure and the great outdoors. He had a love for riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, relishing the thrill of the open road and the wind in his hair. The serene beauty of Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky captured his heart; it was there that he spent countless hours fishing, tubing, and making memories that would last a lifetime. His skills in the kitchen were also noteworthy; whether it was a simple family meal or a barbecue gathering, David loved to cook and share delicious food with others.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Roy and Helen Groce; daughter, Taylor Groce Sarten; granddaughter, Alaina Sarten; siblings, Donald Groce and Misty (Shannon) Tompkins; nieces and nephews, Sha Groce, Austin Tompkins, Darrel Groce, Deven Groce, and Deegan Groce; special friends, Karen Young and Ron Hill; and his very special dog and companion, Silas.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents; sister, Sherri Groce; and special aunt, Nancy Runion.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Henry County Hospice for their kindness and care for David.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, with Mark Herbkersman officiating.
