David H. Rice, 80 of New Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Beckett House.
David was born on September 20, 1945, in Laurel, Mississippi. He is the son of the late William P. Sr. and Essie L. (Satcher) Rice. David worked for Messerschmidt Construction as a skilled heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He was a devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a proud, lifelong farmer who enjoyed tending to the land. He also enjoyed cutting wood and caring for his lawn. Above all, David treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
David is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Lou (Fogle) Rice, whom he married on October 17, 1963; his children, Don (Mary) Rice, Chris (Amy) Rice, Tim Rice, and Scott (Jamie) Rice; his grandchildren, Brittany Rice, Jeremy Rice, Braden Rice, Camden Rice, Teahl Nguyen, Tyler Rice, Shaylynn Pierce, Darian Rice, Jayden Rice, Kyrsten Rice, and River Wieland; his eighteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Marty Garber; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, William Rice Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in David’s honor to the Westminster Presbyterian Church by mailing a check to 17 North Liberty Street, New Concord, Ohio, 43762
A celebration of David’s life will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of New Concord.
