David Allen Halvorson, 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 5, 1941, in Erskine, MN, to Neil and Bessie (Preisler) Halvorson, David lived a life full of joy, laughter, and love.
David married Darlene (Horn) on August 4, 1962, in Winger, MN, and together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. They treasured attending the events of their children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with family. Known for his infectious smile and hearty laugh, David had a special way of making everyone around him feel at ease. His ability to connect with others meant that anyone who met him quickly became a friend.
David attended school in Bejou, MN, and graduated from Mahnomen High School. He then pursued architectural drafting at Thief River Falls Technical College. David was hard working and eventually became part-owner of Home Improvement by Stenerson, which he later owned with his son, Dean.
David is survived by his wife, Darlene, beloved children, Denice (Curt) Brewer of Moorhead, MN, Dean (Teri) Halvorson of Lancaster, MN, Darcy (Mark) Josephson of Alexandria, MN, and Deborah (Shane) Carlson of Halstad, MN; his cherished grandchildren, Derek Brewer, Sam Brewer, Heather Halvorson, Brice Halvorson, Jacob Carlson, Logan Josephson, Cody Carlson, Zach Josephson, Austin Carlson, and Connor Josephson; and his great-grandchildren, Rylee Brewer and David Brewer; Siblings: Jane Schultz , Peg (Dean) Gunderson, Bob (Paulette) Halvorson, Rick (Deb) Halvorson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Bessie Halvorson, and his brother, Donald Halvorson.
David’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A memorial service will be Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead, MN.
