David E. Hammaker, Sr., 63, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was born in Harrisburg, PA on June 20, 1951 to the late Alton L. & Grace E. (Geesaman) Hammaker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 3rd Armor Division Spearhead. On August 22, 1970 he married the love of his life, Barbara L. Kulp. They happily spent 28 wonderful years together before her passing in 1998. He retired with over 20 years of service from Capital Products and was a member of the Duncannon American Legion Post 340. David enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to hunt, trap and fish. He was the most amazing son, brother, nephew, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shooting pool and taking shopping trips to his favorite Amish stores. He touched many hearts and will be greatly missed by all the people who knew him and loved him. In addition to his parents and his beloved wife Barbara, David is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Stanley L. Kulp. He is survived by his mother-in-law Betty L. Kulp, his children; David E. Hammaker Jr. & fianc� Anita L. Serrano of Duncannon, David J. Garvey of Loysville, Michelle L. Black & fianc� Michael E. Stone of New Bloomfield and Karen L. Hammaker & husband Jared R. Kaercher of New Cumberland, his sisters; Gloria J. Hughes of Marysville and Crystal J. Wertz & husband Russell E. of Duncannon, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home at 1pm. A viewing will be held from 11-1pm. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
