David C. Harnisch, 79, of Dever-Conner died Saturday at Clare Bridge memory care in Salem. Born in Albany to Albert and Zelma (Davis) Harnisch, Dave was a lifelong Dever-Conner resident and attended area schools, graduating from Albany High School in 1952. He entered the US Army and proudly served from 1954 to 1956. Upon his discharge, Dave and his wife Esther returned to Oregon and his family farm. On May 15th, 1954 Dave married Esther Kimball, who continues to live on the family farm in Dever-Conner. Other survivors include son Randy Harnisch and wife Lisa of Salem; daughters Janey Coram and husband Guy of Albany, and Beth Christopherson and husband Craig of Albany; grandchildren Laurel Andrizzi, Hannah Christopherson, & Ethan and Emma Harnisch; and great grandchildren Cole and Echo Andrizzi. Dave was preceded in death by his sisters Donna Chambers and Lois Freeman. Farming and family were Dave's passions. When he wasn't driving a tractor or walking through the filbert orchards, he was talking, eating and laughing with his family and friends. Dave was a charter member and lifelong attender of the Dever-Conner Community Church and he traveled with church friends on many international missions trips. Dave believed in giving back to the community that supported him and his family and was a longtime board member for the Dever-Conner Community Church, Jefferson School District, Blue Lake Packers/Agripac, Farm Credit Services, and KWIL radio station. A memorial service will be at 11am Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at the Dever-Conner Community Church. Private interment will be at the Willamette Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn, Multiple Sclerosis Society, or Dever-Conner Community Church, c/o Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
