David Hartsfield Obituary

David Lee Hartsfield, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday at his home in Garden City.

David graduated from Statesboro High School in 1965 and spent a short stint in the National Guard before serving a lifelong career with the Georgia Ports Authority of 45 years. He was an avid fisherman who especially loved fishing the back river of Tybee. He loved watching college football and gardening but mostly he loved spending time with family and friends. He was an amazing grandfather. David was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Madge Hartsfield; one sister, Kaye Hartsfield Miller and his beloved dog, Little Bear.

Survivors include his daughter, Tasia Oglesby; son, Craig Hartsfield; grandchildren, Lane Oglesby (Monica), Lee Oglesby (Cassidy), Brandon Hartsfield (Jessica), Ally Hartsfield, Tory Hartsfield, and Haydan Hartsfield; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Peggy Moorhead and Betsey Hitson (David); brother-in-law, Herb Miller; several nieces and nephews and several lifelong friends.

There will be a private celebration of life for him at a later date.

Remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
