David L. Hawkins

David L. Hawkins, 81, of Philpot, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2009. He was born on June 17, 1928 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky to the late Alfred and Anna Mae Hawkins. He retired after 40 years of employment as a Tow Boat Captain for Crounse Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. He was the most wonderful father in the world. He love life, his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, going to flea markets and auctions and trading guns and knives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hawkins, a daughter, Barbara Powell and several siblings. He is survived by two daughters, Lois (Jack) Roark of Philpot, KY and Linda DiBenedetto of Texas; nine grandchildren, Tiffany (Wayne) Williams, Melissa (Shawn) Hunt, Jack (Michelle) Roark, Jenna (Jason) McKinney, Amanda West, Laura, Brian, John and Lauren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Jake Hawkins of Breckinridge County, KY; a sister, Anna Murrel and a special friend, Mary Decker. Memorial services are at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Visitation is from 12:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. A private family burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
