David Paul Hedding, 77, of Barre, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2025. Born on September 21, 1947, in Barre, Vermont, David lived a life full of memories and the love of his family.

A proud veteran, David served in the Army from 1964 to 1967, achieving the rank of Specialist 5 (P). He carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life, embodying the spirit of resilience and hard work.

In May of 1968, he married Linda Ruth Franks and they were blessed with four children. David was a devoted father to his daughters, Jody Dwire (Matt), Jill Dunkling (Mark), Liza Fortin (Mark), and his son, David Hedding, Jr (Amanda). He took great pride in being a loving grandfather to Savannah Yates, Gabriel Dunkling and Joshua Dunkling. He is also survived by his brothers Allan, Michael, Denis and Timothy Hedding, and his sisters Diane Smith and Lisa Plant, who will miss him dearly.

David worked in the granite industry for most of his career as a skilled craftsman at North Barre Granite.

After retirement, David had a fun venture with his brother Allan owning and operating A & D Cab Company and A & D Auto Sales.

David had a zest for life that included golfing at the Montpelier Elks and many other golf courses in Vermont, Maine and Florida, where many will fondly remember his laughter and camaraderie on the greens. He enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, touring casinos, playing cards and cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with family and friends. He also treasured his time spent in Florida with friends and family.

A graveside service to honor David's life will be held at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery on August 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather as we share stories, celebrate his legacy, and say our goodbyes to a man who touched many lives with his kindness and humor.

In the spirit of David, let us remember the good times spent together, the joy of shared moments, and the love he instilled in all of us. His memory will forever live on in our hearts and stories.

David was preceded in death by his father Edwin Hedding, mother Doris Marsha and brother, Larry Marsha.
