David Hemmerich Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC - Sturgeon Bay on Mar. 2, 2025.
David "Dave" Brian Hemmerich, age 70, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his home.
He was born on April 13, 1954, in Chicago and grew up in Glen Ellyn Illinois, and went to school at Glenbard West School. This is where he met his good friend Jeffrey Kauffman. They raced go-carts together. For Dave this sparked his love for motorcycles and the rest was history. He established a fondness for Goldwing's, in which he purchased several throughout the years, and eventually transferred into a love for corvettes.
Dave drove semi for a while before coming to Door County. When he settled down in Baileys Harbor, he established his job at the Door County Highway Department. His ability to maintain the highway department vehicles contributed to his love for auto mechanics, which continued on by working on his own vehicles and bikes.
Dave moved from Baileys Harbor to Sturgeon Bay in 2000 with his daughter Danielle. Upon this move, Dave bought his Honda Goldwing and traveled many miles up to Washington Island, and all over the upper peninsula of Michigan with Danielle. Dave loved to be outdoors, camping, or spending the weekend on the Island working with Damon on his 1939 ford pick up. Dave also loved to take his daughter sailing on his uncle Ernesto's sailboat up in Ellison Bay. But don't let that fool you, Dave was an extremely hard worker and loved nothing more than to start his next project.
Once Dave retired, he continued his passion for cars and going to car shows. This is where he met his dear friend Eli, who he would spend his last couple of years with going skiing and to car shows. If they weren't at home watching a football game or working on a project, they were up riding around the peninsula with Sarah, Dave's newest Morkie he received after his Morkie Jazzie passed away in 2019.
Anyone who knew Dave, knew he was a very particular man who always had a place for things and was noteworthy meticulous. He was a dedicated father to his daughter Danielle and to Maribelle his Corvette. He was a loving and caring friend to many and would give the shirt off of his back to help you out.
David is survived by his daughter, Danielle Hemmerich; grandchildren, Serenity, Malachi, and Damon; foster dad, Richard Guill; uncle, Ernesto Anderson; niece, Beatriz Anderson; great nephew, Diego; and great niece, Alexandra.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents; foster mother, Roberta Guill; brother, Gordon Anderson; and nephew, Damon Anderson.
A celebration of life is being planned at a later date.
