David Michael Herd, 78, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on July 25, 1947, in Adrian, Michigan, the son of James and Agnes Maki Herd.
David worked as a Union Glazier throughout the United States. He married Sandra Gearhart on April 5, 1985, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, working in radio copy fingerprinting. David lived in Bull Shoals after moving from Salem, Oregon, in 2007. He was a member of the Hoevel-Barnett Post 1341 VFW, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3183, and the Elks Lodge 1714, where he frequently enjoyed playing darts and pool. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, David especially loved swimming and kayaking in the local lakes and rivers. He hosted poker tournaments at his home every Tuesday for his friends and fellow VFW members.
David is survived by his wife, Sandra Herd of Bull Shoals, AR; daughter, Amanda (Elan Glendening) Herd-Glendening; sons, James (Shelby Thomas-Herd), David Herd, Jason Gearhart, and Mathew Smith; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
A Celebration of David's life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Hoevel-Barnett Post 1341 VFW in Bull Shoals, AR.
